(A few days early!)

Update from Mary:

Thank you for all of the thoughts, prayers, and healing wishes. I am scheduled to undergo surgery on Monday afternoon, July 29. For the first couple weeks of the session, it is highly unlikely that I will be able to come to the studio at all. If all goes well, you should see my smiling face at the studio towards the end of the session. I won’t be able to teach, but I will be around in a management capacity.

In the meantime, Marla Barnard and Raine Johnstone will be teaching the Never2Late and Tap Level 1 classes. The material they will be teaching is mine. The Never2Late classes are always the same, so that was not an issue. Fortunately, I managed to get the Warm-up and routine ready for Tap 1 before my injury, so they have all of the info needed in order to teach this next session.

For my more advanced students, I have arranged for Jenefer Miller to teach a class Tuesday evenings at 6:30 pm during the session. This will be a combined Level 2-3 class. Jen is a wonderfully gifted teacher and will adjust the level as needed depending on the students who attend the class. If you were registered for the Level 3 class that was scheduled to meet at this time, you have automatically been registered for this class. If you had planned on taking Level 2.4, 2.7, 3 PREP, or 3 this session, I recommend you take this class. If you were planning on taking 2.1, I would recommend staying in Level 1 for the time being, as this class may be too challenging for you. Once I am able to resume teaching, we will be starting with the levels of 2 that were planned for this session.

In addition to Marla and Raine, Erin Vosseller and Adrianna Vildusea will help keep the studio running. Erin and Adrianna have helped me out when needed from the day I opened the studio, so you may have already met them or seen them around. I am so grateful for all of my helpers.

Please be patient with all of my helpers. They have very kindly volunteered to help keep the studio running while I am out of commission. I have not had an opportunity to train them as thoroughly as I would have liked, so there may be some mistakes and hiccups at the front desk or in the classroom. They may work slower than you would like, but they are trying to figure everything out.

Stay tuned to this page and/or our Facebook page for updates on my recovery.

The New Schedule for August/September

Here is the updated schedule with all of the changes for the session. Classes will begin on Monday August 5 and will run through Friday September 20. THERE ARE NO CLASSES ON MONDAY SEPTEMBER 2 DUE TO THE LABOR DAY HOLIDAY.

There is space available in all classes at this time. Registration for these classes is available through our online registration system.

If you are registering for the entire session, we recommend that you purchase a 7 Week Pass (or 6 Week Pass for Monday classes) or a Flex-Pass. Then when you attend your first class, ask the person at the front desk to enroll you for all of the classes in the session. At the studio, we have the capability to make a recurring class booking. You could book yourself into each class, but you would have to book each class individually.

Studio Hours Adjusted

Because of Mary’s injury, the studio will remain closed until the session begins. Once the session does begin, the studio will only be open for classes. We know this is inconvenient, but it’s the best we can do at this time. Once Mary has recovered, our normal studio hours will resume. We appreciate your understanding.

Shoe Orders Delayed

August is when we traditionally put together our group order for Miller and Ben Tap Shoes. Taking these orders, helping people figure out their correct size, and shipping the shoes back and forth is a lot of work and Mary will not be able to handle it this August. The good news is, Miller and Ben will take group orders through November, so we won’t completely miss out this year, it will just be delayed a little bit. Once Mary can return to working at the studio on a regular basis and can handle the work involved, we’ll start taking orders.

Again, thank you all so much for the thoughts, prayers, and well-wishes. I truly appreciate it.

  1. Mary, I was so sorry to hear about your accident. I broke my wrist a number of years ago and I can’t tell you how many times I thought “if I could only go back to that second before falling and have a Re-Do.”

I hope surgery goes well and you bounce back quickly. I will miss you and your class but may try to take the 6:30 class in the meantime. I will look forward to your return and will keep you In my thoughts and prayers.

  3. Hi Mary,

I’m so sorry to hear about your injury. I wish you a big “good luck” with your surgery!
Due to the time and day of the new schedule for the 2.4 level class, I won’t be able to attend. It’s on Tuesday night, my WCS night for dancing. I’ll keep an eye out for any updates on your progress and changes. Take Care

  4. Mary, thinking about you and wishing you a healthy and speedy recovery. Take good care of yourself!!!!
