Wall-2-Wall Dance Center Celebrates 5 Years in November

We opened our doors and offered our first classes in November of 2013. A lot has changed in the last 5 years. When we first started, we offered ballet, jazz, contemporary, and Zumba in addition to our tap classes. We are now exclusively a TAP DANCE studio, offering 20+ tap classes a week at several different levels. Each year, as the anniversary of this business approaches, we reflect on what has changed, how the business has grown and developed, and contemplate what is to come.

As we begin the last session of 2018, you will be seeing some changes around the studio, most notably a new name and a new logo. In order to more accurately reflect what we do, Wall-2-Wall Dance Center is becoming Wall-2-Wall Tap Dance Center! Our redesigned logo is will begin to replace the old logo.

This calls for a CELEBRATION! Save the date: We will be holding our 5th Anniversary Celebration the afternoon of Saturday, November 17! This event will include a performance by the HeartBeat Tap Ensemble, a free class, a raffle with some fantastic prizes, and even a CAKE! Raffle prizes will include a pair of custom tap shoes from Miller and Ben, two 1-day passes to next year’s Big Apple Tap Fest, and a practice floor from O’Mara Sprung Floors!

Tap Teacher Training Begins Next Session

With 20+ tap classes each week, Mary is reaching a point where she needs to find some people to help out. For the first time ever, we are offering Tap Teacher Training for Never-2-Late Tap Part 1 during the November-December 2018 Session. Students who register for Tap Teacher Training will need to commit to attend one of the 2 Never-2-Late Part 1 classes every week for the 5 weeks. These classes meet Mondays at 9 am and Wednesdays at 7:30 pm. Throughout the 5 weeks, they may be called upon to teach sections of the class. Additionally, they will receive some 1-on-1 mentoring from Mary. Students who successfully complete Tap Teacher Training in the Nov/Dec Session will then student teach a class in the January/February 2019 Session. After that, they will be eligible to teach classes at the studio.

The ideal candidate for our Tap Teacher Training will have the following:

  • Be a regular student at the studio
  • Be a Level 2 or above
  • Be able to demonstrate the basic steps and combinations with confidence

Registration for Tap Teacher Training requires Mary’s approval. Please speak with her if you are interested.

Reward Points

How would you like a free T-Shirt or water bottle? What about some free classes? Every time you make a purchase at our studio or attend 2 or more classes in a week, you get Reward Points. These points can then be redeemed for all of our studio merchandise or even some free classes. Next time you’re buying something at the studio, ask how many Reward Points you have. You might just have enough to cover your purchase!

Fitness Frenzy Thank You

We’d like to thank everyone who came and/or donated to our 5th Annual Fitness Frenzy! Arizona Camp Sunrise and Sidekicks received over $800 from this event! This was our biggest year ever and we were so happy to host this event once again.

And save the date – We have already set the date for the 6th Annual Fitness Frenzy: Sunday, September 22, 2019.

HeartBeat Tap Ensemble News

This is the time of year when things start to get busy for the HeartBeat Tap Ensemble. We have several appearances and performances lined up over the next few months. November is particularly busy this year. We will be performing at the studio anniversary party on November 17, we’re doing a performance at the Gardens of Scottsdale Assisted Living facility on November 24, and we have 2 parades! We’ll be performing in the Tempe Veteran’s Day Parade on Sunday, November 11 and then the Tempe Opening Night Fantasy of Lights Parade on Friday, November 23.

For our parade appearances we will be needing some volunteers to carry the banner and help with music. If you are interested in helping with these parade appearances, please speak with Mary. This is a great opportunity for aspiring HeartBeats to spend some time with the group and get an idea of what being a HeartBeat is all about!

And we have a few more dates for you to save…

Jenefer Miller and the AZ Tap Club will be hosting a Black Friday workshop at the studio. Stay tuned for times, prices and faculty announcements.

And don’t forget, the Phoenix Tap Festival is coming soon! The Festival will run Wednesday, January 2 – Sunday, January 6, 2019. Classes will be held at Dancer’s Domain in Scottsdale. Schedule, faculty, and registration will be coming soon!
